Ereván es la capital de Armenia, así como la mayor ciudad del país. Tiene una población estimada, a inicios de 2022, de 1 092 800 habitantes. Su superficie es de 233 km². Se ubica en el extremo oriental de la llanura de Ararat y a ambas orillas del río Hrazdan.
