Colonia es una ciudad del oeste de Alemania. Con alrededor de 1,1 millones de habitantes, es la cuarta ciudad más poblada del país –después de Berlín, Hamburgo y Múnich–, y la más poblada de la macrorregión metropolitana del Rin-Ruhr y del Estado federado de Renania del Norte-Westfalia, cuya capital, sin embargo, es Düsseldorf.
