Amritsar, también conocida históricamente como Rāmdāspur y coloquialmente como Ambarsar, es una ciudad del norte de India y sede administrativa del distrito de Amritsar Langar del estado de Panyab. Su nombre significa ‘estanque (sara) del néctar de la inmortalidad (amrita)’. El censo indio de 2009 informó una población cercana a los 1.2 millones de habitantes.
