Astaná, conocida hasta 1998 como Akmolá y renombrada entre los años 2019 y 2022 como Nursultán, es la capital de Kazajistán desde 1997. Se encuentra situada en el centro-norte del país y constituye una ciudad con estatus federal dentro de la provincia de Akmolá, políticamente independiente y cuya capital es la ciudad de Kokshetau.
