Beirut es la capital y principal puerto marítimo del Líbano. Perteneciente a la gobernación de Beirut, en 2019 se estimaba que su población era de unos 3 300 000 habitantes. La ciudad es una de las más diversas de Oriente Próximo, dividida entre las diferentes ramas cristianas y musulmanas.
