Windhoek es la capital de Namibia. El nombre puede derivar del afrikáans Wind-Hoek («esquina del viento») o de las montañas Winterhoek. Tiene una población que alcanza los 431 000 habitantes en 2020 (el 15.7 % de la población del país) afrikáners (6 %), mestizos (basters y coloureds, 11 %), asiáticos (7 %), ovambos, hereros y todas las otras etnias nativas.
