Haarlem , en la historiografía española se conoció como Harlem, es un municipio y una ciudad de los Países Bajos, capital de la provincia de Holanda Septentrional. Se ubica cerca de la desembocadura del río Spaarne, en el Noordzeekanaal, distante a tan solo 20 km al oeste de la capital nacional, Ámsterdam. Demográficamente, está en el límite occidental del gran área metropolitana denominada Randstad.
