Coímbra es una ciudad portuguesa, capital del distrito homónimo, en Beira Litoral, situada (solo para fines estadísticos de la UE) en la Región Centro y comunidad intermunicipal de Coímbra. Cuenta con 143 396 habitantes, de acuerdo con el censo de 2011. Coímbra es una ciudad atravesada por el río Mondego, de calles estrechas, patios, escaleras y arcos medievales.
