Bujará, del uigur buxār y este del sánscrito Vihara, es la quinta ciudad más poblada de Uzbekistán, y capital de la provincia homónima. Tiene una población de 323 900 habitantes (censo de 1999). Su centro histórico fue declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en el año 1993. Históricamente, se la llegó a conocer también como Buhe/Puhe en China durante la dinastía Tang.
